Accompanist Pianist

Pianist Daniel Ruiz Hurtado, a native of La Canonja (Tarragona, Catalonia), began his musical studies at the Vila-seca Professional Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Núria Ruera and later with Cecilio Tieles and Jordi López, where he developed his passion for music. Upon completing his studies at the conservatory with top honors in piano, he moved to Barcelona to further his musical career at the Catalonia College of Music (ESMUC) under the direction of Pierre Réach. His musicality and spontaneous approach to piano playing have allowed him to acquire extensive knowledge.

In his final year, he was awarded an exchange program with the renowned Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow, where he worked with the school’s professors. That same year, he received a scholarship from the Anna Riera Foundation to complete his studies at ESMUC in Barcelona, graduating with top honors in piano performance. For his graduation recital, he performed a Chopin Études Opus. He has had the privilege of working with esteemed music masters such as Paul Badura-Skoda, Joaquín Achúcarro, Edith Fischer, Claudio Martínez Mehner, the Kandinsky Trio, Yuri Bogdanov, the Harlem Quartet, Tatiana Zelikman, and many others.

His sensitivity and imagination grant him remarkable musical talent and creativity, which have earned him several awards in competitions across Spain. He also had the opportunity to perform J. S. Bach’s Concerto in F minor with the Vallès Youth Symphony Orchestra. His deep admiration for Chopin's music inspires him to take on the challenge of performing the composer’s entire repertoire in the coming years.

In 2018, he graduated with a Master’s in Performance from the prestigious Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with professors Sofya Gulyak and Ashley Wass. This was made possible thanks to a scholarship awarded by the institution. During his time in London, he refined his technical skills and gained musical maturity through numerous masterclasses and by experiencing performances from leading interpreters.

In 2020, he returned to Spain, where he now combines his solo career with teaching music at the Perelló School of Music and the Vila-seca Professional Conservatory of Music.

Currently, he is engaged in a recording project alongside clarinetist Oriol Estivill, presenting a collection of contemporary Catalan works by prominent composers such as Benet Casablancas, Josep Maria Guix, Joan Guinjoan, Robert Gerhard, Joan Magrané, and Marc Migó.

He also serves as the pianist for the Scherzo Chamber Choir.
