The choir

The Scherzo Female Chamber Choir is a vocal ensemble from Vila-seca (Tarragona) founded in 1989.
It has performed throughout Catalonia and in various cities across Spain, participating in productions with orchestras such as the OBC, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Municipal Band, the Catalan Baroque Orchestra, the Julià Carbonell Orchestra, and the Terrassa 48 Orchestra.
The choir has recorded three CDs and has several live recordings by Catalunya Música and Radio Nacional de España, which have been regularly broadcast on these stations. It has received several awards, including the 1st Prize and Gold Medal at the 2nd Orlando di Lasso International Choral Competition in Rome and the 1st Prize and Gold Medal at the 3rd International Choral Competition "Europe and Its Songs."
Since its founding, the choir has been conducted by Sílvia Gil-Pérez and has worked with guest conductors such as Òscar Boada, Carles Josep Comalada, Josep Vila, Salvador Brotons, Víctor Pablo Pérez, and Elisenda Carrasco. In recent years, the choir has undertaken several productions under the direction of Jordi Casas Bayer.
It has performed in venues such as the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Teatro-Auditorio of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the Barcelona Auditorium, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Enric Granados Auditorium in Lleida, and the Josep Carreras Auditorium in Vila-seca.
The choir has premiered works by composers such as Alejandro Yagüe, Ramiro Real, Albert Guinovart, Josep M. Guix, Ramon Humet, Jordi Domènech, and Manuel García Morante.
The choir is currently conducted by Esteve Nabona.
